The First Honomobo: A Legacy Begins

The Ritchie HO2 holds a special place in Honomobo’s history as the first home ever built and installed. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, this laneway home transformed the concept of factory-built, modern, modular housing into reality, demonstrating efficiency and durability from the start. At 384 square feet, this compact home was constructed from two shipping containers, optimized to maximize functionality and comfort in a small space. Designed originally to generate rental income, the Ritchie HO2 reflects Honomobo’s commitment to creating innovative, homes that integrate seamlessly into their surroundings.

‍

This pioneering project broke ground in a burgeoning space, modern, modular housing. Despite its small footprint, the HO2 offers everything you’d expect in a complete home—kitchen, bathroom, living space, and a private bedroom. The home’s compact design and efficient use of space and quality materials exemplify the value of modular construction, all while providing a valuable income-generating opportunity for the owners.

‍

The Ritchie HO2 represents more than just the beginning of Honomobo—it’s proof that big ideas can come in small, beautifully designed packages. This groundbreaking project set the tone for Honomobo’s future, redefining modern living with bold design, exceptional quality, and modular efficiency.
